Most awaited OnePlus5 is launched today exclusively on amazon. So here we go, OnePlus5 box is similar to previous oneplus devices w had like full white box with OnePlus logo at the top in red colour. Box includes handset, usb cable (usb type a to usb type c)and dash charging power adapter and startup manual book. Midnight black and Slate grey are the available colours. 5.5 inch AMOLED display with nice deep black and 1080 fullHD, which OnePlus haven't done that in the past and 401 ppi is still a very good pixel density resolution though. 16 Mega Pixel front facing camera with f2.0 aperture and Electronic Image Stabilization. Fingerprint scanner at the front side bottom of the device, which is super fast from the previous OnePlus devices. It is very fast and accurate. Its just 7.2 mm thin, which means thinnest OnePlus devices we had so far. Bottom side of the device has 3.5 mm earphone jack, firing speaker and type c connector. Right side of the device has power button and sim card tray(dual sim card supported). Both the sim cards can be active at the same time, as i really like this feature and i wish most of the upcoming smarphones should definitely have this feature. But no space for microSD cards, so you cannot expand the storage in this device.Left side of the device has volume rockers and OnePlus toggle switch, which will let you switch between different modes. Nice matte black finish with OnePlus logo at the back side of the device and at the top, brand new dual camera setup. Primary camera, which is 16 Mega Pixel with f1.7 aperture and secondary camera, which is 20 Mega Pixel with f2.7 aperture and it is tele photo lens. We have also got Pro Mode,so that we can customize everything in camera settings and also we have histogram so if you're somebody who's really into photography you're going to be able to go in and do lots of tweaks and things. There is no Optical Image Stabilization this time around on the cameras, we have got Electronic Image Stabilization. The Operating system is OxygenOS on top of Android 7.1.1. It is definitely one of the best games in m opinion not too intrusive but it does provide some nice custmizations. In terms of other features, we have got a 3300 mAh battery which is supposed give you around 20% more usage because of the optimizations compared to OnePlus3T. Bluetooth 5.0, which can connect two devices at one time. Another cool stuff about OnePlus5 is that it supports 34 GSM networks thats a lot more than many of the devices. In theory this means that you're going to be able to travel with this and you're going to be able to pick up the network so it's not going to be a case where if you buy a US model of a device and bring it over to the U.K and you might not get 4G LTE and things like that this has been the case on some of the previous devices. I'm definitely looking forward to having this with dual sims, this should be very very useful. This is being powered by Snapdragon 835, which is the latest and greatest processor and in terms of RAM and storage we have got 6 GB with 64 gigabytes of storage and the whopping 8GB RAM version with 128 gigabytes of storage. In terms of pricing for the 6 GB RAM version is around Rs. 32,999 and for the 8 GB RAM version with 128 gigabytes of storage is around Rs. 37,999. I'm sure pretty much that most of us will be interested in 8 gigabytes version. Yes, it is more expensive compared to previous OnePlus devices, price has been going up over the years but we are getting more features over the years as well. What do you guys think of the price of this device? Definitely let me know in the comments section. Now we have covered all of the features of the device a less address elephant in the room yes this does look very much like iPhone7 plus with matte black colour the antenna lines that go over the top as well as that dual camera setup also works in a very similar way. What i have liked to have seen something different yes of course it would have been nice to see something a little bit more unique.
FINGERPRINT SCANNER
OnePlus5 shares a lot of similarities with iPhone 7 plus and one of those is the fingerprint scanner which is at the front side and both of these do work guite similarly. Oneplus5 is definitely quicker it's almost instant there with minimal animation and that iPhone 7 plus stay quite a bit longer to unlock compared to OnePlus5. OnePlus5 claimed 0,2 second and it does seem to be the case. Unlock from the lock screen also much faster than iPhone 7 plus. Even after displaying animations on both the devices, OnePlus5 wins the race again. One of the faster fingerprint scanner device in the market.
CAMERA
Both the devices has 4K 2160p resolution. Because of OIS, iPhone 7 Plus video stabilization looks lot more better than OnePlus5 even with telephoto option enabled. Autofocus in roomlight seems to be good on both the devices. Oneplus5 has 16MP front facing camera with a wider aperture than iPhone7 plus. Dual rear cameras with one primary wide angle lens as well as secondary telephoto lens which is ging to give two times zoom. Oneplus5 has high resolution for both the cameras as well as wider aperture. Selfie in harsh sunlight seems to be pretty good, whereas OnePlus5 is slighty wider
but the iPhone 7 plus does seem to have better colours, because of the sunlight OnePlus5 has leaned more towards that yellow side so for the colours i do prefer the iPhone 7 plus. iPhone7 plus looks sharper than OnePlus for zooming a Selfie photo. For low lying shot, Oneplus5 is definitely winning out and we have got much cleaner image with less noise its also sharp or with better colours. Front facing camera with flashes will eliminates the display to give you some more light, once again OnePlus5 wins the race with less noise and sharper image. Colours looks a little bit more vibrant in OnePlus5 and it does seem to have a bit more contrast compared to iPhone 7 plus. Both looks good for Macroshots , nice shallow depth of field. Portrait mode is available on both the devices. iPhone7 plus is using telephoto lens to capture the image and using the wide-angle image to create that blur whereas OnePlus5 seems to be doing the opposite but regardless both seem to be doing a great job with that blur image looks like they were taken on a DSLR. iPhone7 plus had better dynamic range and it is also wider it looks like OnePlus5 does cropping quite a bit too the video from the front-facing camera. In terms of stablization, OnePlus5 is more stable compared to iPhone7 from the front-facing camera videos and iPhone7 plus is more stable than OnePlus5 from the rear facing camera videos at 4K resolution.
CHARGING TIME
Let's compare all the flagship models of leading android mobile manufacturers. Samsung Galaxy S8(3000mAh), HTC U11(3230 mAh), Sony Xperia Z2 Premium(3000mAh) and OnePlus5(3300) are participated in the race. Battery sizes of each devices are very similar, OnePlu5 has bigger battery capacity than all other models. For Testing purpose, all the charging percentage are brought down to 1% and flight mode has been activated to avoid any discrepancies. OnePlus5 won the race comfortably and it takes 1 hour and 28 minutes to reach 100% battery level, whereas time taken for Samsung galaxy s8, HTC U11 and Xperia Z2 are 1 hour and 41 minutes, 1 hour and 44 minutes and 2 hours and 40 minutes respectively. However, none of the iPhone models does not have any such functionality for fast charging and as expected it takes 3 hours and 43 minutes for 100% battery level. In terms of battery level, iPhone7 plus does last for very very long time. But charge time with standard charger are absolute joke and apple should really be including fast charging included he box. You can find all the features, design and performance similar to iPhone and much cheaper than iPhone(one-third of the money). A Wise person always prefer OnePlus5 to iPhone7 plus. Are you?
